This month we take you on another food adventure.  The BEBOP restaurant on College Avenue serves authentic Korean food in a casual setting.  Alcohol is not sold but wine and beer are available.  The place is good for kids and the help is friendly.  Service was excellent and prices are moderate.

Our group of four arrived at approximately 6:15 PM and were seated promptly.  When we finished at about 7:30 PM the place was full.  As is the case with Korean restaurants, the small dishes began to arrive soon after we were seated.  The first was a cool, creamy, and very tasty pumpkin soup.  The variety of dishes on the menu is quite large making the decision on what to order difficult and exciting.

One of us ordered the Beef Bulgogi which came with brown rice and lots of fresh sautéed vegetables.  The beef was very tender and plentiful.  Three of us ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap.  Two had it with spicy shrimp and one with mushrooms.  Four different sauces were offered to pour on top.  This dish comes in a hot stone bowl with a rice crust inside.  It, and all of the side dishes that came with the meal, were very good.  The bill, including tip and one beer and one glass of wine, was $25.00 each.

This small restaurant in the Elmwood is easily a neighborhood place that you will want to return to again and again to explore the wide range of flavors available.  We liked it very much and think you will too.

Bonus selection in the Claremont Elmwood Neighborhood

This reviewer's pick for a great new olive oil business is Amphora Nueva, located at 2928 Domingo Avenue, just off Ashby.

They have an amazing selection of flavored and plain olive oils and balsamic vinegars.

I choose the butter olive oil and the garlic oil plus the cherry balsamic.  All were fabulous.  There is tasting of all the products, so go and enjoy.
