Save Our Shops!

A message from our neighbors trying to save local businesses:

Tired of Build, Baby, Build! in Berkeley?
The Corridors Zoning Upgrade (CZU) is the City Council’s latest gift to real estate interests. In their
rush to get this giveaway passed, City officials have:
• not contacted local businesses
• staged bogus public input sessions in which the public was forbidden to ask questions in an open forum, while they
• had private meetings with developers, “stakeholders,” to discuss their wants
• lavished $600,000 on consultants

City officials supported runaway development that forced out small businesses and left downtown full of lifeless, empty storefronts. Now they propose bringing this to Elmwood, Solano, and North Shattuck, destroying the distinctive character of Berkeley’s neighborhoods.

• Let the City Council know you oppose their Build, Baby, Build! CZU scheme.
• Go to the City Council meeting Thursday, November 6th
School Board District Room, 1231 Addison St. (Arrive BEFORE 6pm)
